Network cabling nightmare Fiber Damage

The phone rang at 7 clock on Monday. We must mobilize now! Three floors of the hospital network is reduced. I did not know at that time, but a chain of 12 existing single fiber optic cable had been destroyed by the crew of the rope. This equipment has been the installation of a new fiber strand 12 were armored. One of the guys in the middle of the race had no leader. The man seemed to draw the bottom plate. There was a herd of about 20 armored fiber optic cable from a hole in the wall above the roof. The new fiber was brought to be supported by the wider package of fiber. As from its position on the ground that he pulled the cable back on the package of goods. In fact, it was to burn the outer layers of the existing cable. All cables might had come out of the center of the beam is not shielded. The new Holocaust shielded cable through easily.

This was interrupted on three floors of an area within a hospital in New York. We have been called for emergency repairs. We were able to patch in a hurry that night. A few days later there was a permanent solution. If we consider the problems that we had no idea where the problem was to begin to resolve. I knew it was a group of cable systems in the data center last night. We shot a laser through the fiber from one end of the fiber in the datacenter. Once we looked around we saw a little ‘light on the ceiling. As we checked around the opening through the wall, where the largest group came through the fiber, basically, will be red as a Christmas tree. We identified the problem here. We could take greater security, was cut off from the wall when irradiated laser fiber!

The moral of this experience is to use the right equipment, and common sense please! Fundamental laws of physics are confirmed, they can not be thrown in a thread that is for another cable or maybe a few cable rub for a while out of the disaster. It was expensive to repair and create an embarrassing situation for the contractor. Think before you throw!
